On the afternoon of 9th May, the Isolation·Combination – 2021 Graduation Show of the School of Textiles and Fashion was held in Art Building‘s central garden. The campus was full of youth and creativity on the weekend. Yu Tao, vice secretary of the party committee and president of SUES, CONG Yuhao, president of Shanghai Customs College, XIA Chunming, vice president of SUES, as well as the guests from other universities, media, and enterprises, teachers and students, nearly 200 people attended the conference.
The theme of the 2021 graduation design is “Isolation·Combination” which means healing the feelings of isolation through sensory experiences. Graduates started from the perspective of social ecology and their own mind, being focused on the five directions: Contemporary Interpretation of Oriental Culture, Modern Heritage of Traditional Skills, “Fashion Expression of Red Gene, Future of Digital Intelligent” and “Practice of the Design Theory”, made their creative insights both on the human status and future fashion. Young and creative graduates began with a diversified perspective, used fresh visual expression, and demonstrated a strong personality style through the shape of cutting, color collocation, design creativity, secondary fabric design.
The graduate show is unique, which perfectly integrates natural landscape, art architecture, and t-stage. The t-stage extended between the gallery and the lawn of the art building’s central garden, in which the walking models formed a landscape together with the viewers. The creative venue selection and arrangement made the show full of amazing sensory experiences.
The whole graduation show was broadcast by video and pictures through new media, showing the latest design works of graduates for the first time. The Play Fashion, founded and organized by STF students, also participated in the show both the preliminary promotion and live broadcast. It comprehensively wholly demonstrated the teaching achievements of STF’s fashion design and fashion communication in recent years.
The graduation show achieved a big success, not only for the perfect ending of the 2021 graduates’ 4-your-study in fashion design and fashion engineering but also the opening of their career as designers, also for a perfect beginning of a designer's career.
